I’m an art dabbler – I work with oil paints, ceramics, watercolors, bead and wire wrap, charcoal and graphite, pastels & logo design. And that’s just a few of my interests!
My degree is in Graphic Arts and I attended the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, although admittedly my most valuable learning experiences have come from short workshops and my own experimentation. Creating artful things has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. . .and many of my projects are completed simply because I wasn’t aware I couldn’t do it. After a lifetime of breaking eggs, I had never given much thought to possibilities inherent in the shell. As it turns out, eggshell is a wonderful medium for creating intricate, subtle texture. It also imparts luminosity, and reflects/refracts light in a way not found in other materials. I use a combination of homemade alcohol-based inks and acrylic paints for my coloration. Base materials range from Spanish flax paper to birchwood, and most recently, bamboo. |
The process that I have developed can be rather tedious to get right, but experiencing the outcome makes it all worthwhile.
I love the simplicity and elegance of my eggshell jewelry designs, and I hope you will, too!
